If you are like me when you had your first baby you may not have had a clue when it comes to the timing to document your baby. A session around 6 months might not make any sense to you. So I wanted to spend some time to share what I think are some of the most important milestones to document when expecting a baby.

The first session I think it so important is a maternity session. You absolutely do not need to go all out or even commit to a full session but I really encourage at least a mini session to document just a few memories to hold on to from this special time. The second is probably the most obvious, a newborn session. This could be a Fresh 48 hospital session, studio newborn session, in-home newborn session or maybe a combination of these sessions. Your baby will grow and change so fast so I think this session is an absolute must!

Next, like this sweet session, the 6-8 month timeframe is one of my favorites. By this age your baby can sit unassisted and has that precious gummy smile! They may be mobile but usually they are not quite on the move yet making it the perfect time to document how much they have grown and changed since their newborn days but before they become mobile and on the move!

Lastly, the first birthday! That first year always goes by way to fast and what better way to celebrate than with photos at one year. Your baby is usually starting to stand by this point or even taking their first steps! And then choose to end your session with a cake smash to celebrate!
