Our Family Beach Vacation | Hilton Head, South Carolina
One of the things that both Kevin and I share is a deep love for the ocean and the beach. From our early vacations as a couple, to our honeymoon and now as a family of three we make it a priority to take at least two vacations a year with one of them being somewhere by the ocean! Last year we decided we would love to make sure we spent at least one week every summer at the beach. We picked Isle of Palms, SC last year and this year we choose Hilton Head, SC. And while our beach vacations have changed drastically with a two year old on our hands we still love our time at the beach sharing our love of the ocean with our little girl!
Keeping to tradition Joie started warming up to the ocean closer to the end of the trip but gosh she loves the sand. She is an expert at emptying the water out of her bucket and filling it with sand as well as somehow still standing in the bucket like last year. Haha I think we might have a tradition on our hands with the bucket! And watch out seagulls because Joie found a new hobby chasing seagulls!
This year we were also able to get Joie in the ocean swimming and jumping waves, we are so proud of her. It took her some time to warm up to it but she had so much fun once she was out there with us. Thank you South Carolina for having super warm ocean water lol. We spent mornings on the beach walking and finding sea stars and sand dollars and even had the chance to see and learn about sea turtle eggs! On a side note Joie thought all the tiny black crabs were spiders so it became a challenge trying to convince Joie that they were okay.
Hilton Head was absolutely beautiful and we can’t wait to go back! The beaches, the Spanish moss, the food and the ocean … we are in love and always amazed by South Carolina’s beauty!
